CEREC simply means FEWER DENTAL VISITS! Dr. Levey is one of less than a very small percentage of US dentists who has been trained and using CEREC technology since 2001. The company (Sirona, the dental branch of Siemens) recently told Dr. Levey that he was one of the first 100 users in the U.S.A. CEREC is the world's first system for long lasting, all ceramic crowns, onlays and veneers created in ONE VISIT. To our patients, this means means fewer injections, often less drilling (therefore saving more of your natural tooth) and less time out of your schedule than previous techniques.
CEREC [CAD-CAM] Technology can be utilized to repair cracked, broken, or chipped teeth, fill in gaps between teeth, straighten teeth (instant orthodontics!), replace metal fillings for a natural look, and rebuild worn or unsightly teeth in just one office visit!
Thanks to the state-of-the-art CEREC (CAD-CAM) equipment in our office, Dr. Levey creates long lasting, natural-looking ceramic crowns and onlays that will make even broken teeth look like new, in just one visit! Cerec is the perfect solution for cracked, chipped, worn or misshapen teeth and also to restore any tooth that is decayed, weakened or broken, back to its natural strength and beauty.
No temporary crowns! No second visit required!
Dr. Levey will examine your mouth and determine the appropriate treatment. It could be a simple filling, or a full crown, depending on how much healthy tooth structure is remaining and his clinical judgment. Next, he will administer an anesthetic and prepare your tooth for restoration, removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue, without disturbing the healthy tissue. This strategy is called minimally invasive dentistry.
Next, Dr. Levey takes an Optical Impression of the prepared tooth (just like taking a digital photo). No need for messy, gagging, gel impression trays in your mouth. The optical image takes just a few moments to capture.
Dr. Levey then uses his expertise to design your restoration using the CEREC 3D computer program while you watch. About 15 minutes later your all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and tried in place. After the try in (which takes just a few minutes), the special porcelain called eMax (which is 5 times stronger than regular porcelain) is polished and glazed, and put into a unique porcelain furnace at 1100 degrees for about 25 minutes. The eMax porcelain comes out beautiful , strong and ready to bond. Dr. Levey tests the restoration in your mouth to ensure proper fit and bite. Your tooth is restored with no "temporary" or return trip necessary. All of this is done in a single appointment! You are done!
Note how we were able to restore our patients cracked single front tooth in just one visit! This means she did not need to wear a temporary crown for several weeks or have to return to the office for a second visit or get numb for a second time.
This is what we all want: Teeth that look good, feel good, and last a long time. Why not get them in fewer visits as well??
'A great experience as usual. I was in a lot of pain and the entire staff was very compassionate-thanks."
